About Rosacea

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin disease often referred to as adult acne. It occurs between the ages of 30 and 50 and affects more women than men. Rosacea begins as a tendency to flush and blush easily. Over time, it develops into redness on the cheeks but can also involve the ears, chest and back.
Additionally, pimples, some containing pus, can occur. Unlike acne, there are no blackheads. In advanced cases, the oil glands enlarge, causing puffy cheeks and a swollen red nose, a condition called rhinophyma. Some patients may develop eye irritation or conjunctivitis.

The cause of Rosacea is unknown.

How is Rosacea treated?
